Autodromo Launch New Monoposto Chronograph
The close cooperation between Bradley Price of Autodromo and Jonathan Bordell of Page and Cooper soon becomes apparent whenever one watches one of their YouTube conversations. Both love watches and motorsport with a passion and the launch of each new timepiece from Autodromo is both exciting and significant.
Since its launch just five years ago, the Autodromo brand has achieved cult status with a host of enthusiastic and supportive owners and collectors who all appreciate the considered and informed research and design that goes into producing each and every new model. That being said, the launch of the new Monoposto Chronograph is of particular significance.
Autodromo's first watch was the original Monoposto which translated literally from the Italian meaning 'single seat' as in single seat racing cars and motorbikes from the classic era of motorsport. The dial of this watch is a classic interpretation of the tachometers of 1950's racing cars where the red limit for racing engines was marked on the gauges by a mechanic dependent on the tuning of the engine.
The original Autodromo Monoposto proved a huge success and is already highly sought after and collectable, remarkable for such a new and accessible watchmaker. As they say, 'quality will always tell' and such is Autodromo's broad appeal, that watch collectors of many means have felt the need to add one to their collection.
With the 5th anniversary of the company approaching, Bradley Price, designer and founder of Autodromo, felt that he wanted to create something really special to mark the occasion. His response was to combine two of his most received requests. To bring back the Monoposto and to produce an Autodromo automatic chronograph, in one very special watch.
And so, we at Page and Cooper, Autodromo's sole UK appointed agents, are proud and privileged to present to you the Autodromo Monoposto Chronograph. An intriguing new watch that will, surely be every bit as sought after as its illustrious predecessor. We have been fortunate enough to be very close to the development of this stunning new watch from the very beginning and are pleased to acquaint you with some of the key details.
Autodromo have refined the wonderful design of this classic watch, whilst still retaining the elements of the original. A slightly thicker case encloses the larger mechanical chronograph movement and, the choice of this particular movement should be of interest to all watch fans. It is the Seiko NE88, a Japanese made 34 jewel automatic movement with column wheel and vertical clutch. This gives a smooth and effortless operation to the chronograph and is a feature found in expensive, high-end chronographs. The revised dial is influenced by 1950's chronographs with a running second hand on the right, 30 minute counter on the left and 12 hour counter at 6. Flat pushers complete the 1950's racing aesthetic. The new Monoposto chronograph has a domed sapphire crystal and a sapphire display back.
Autodromo Monoposto's are in high demand and sell out fast because of the collector's market. We recommend that you don't hang around long if you want one.
