Page and Cooper at SalonQP 2014
SalonQP in our opinion is one of the greatest places in the world to discover new friends and meet with existing friends from the world of horology. We feel privileged that on our journey through time, we have clients who have gone on to become great friends.
At this point we must say that the fine people at QP Magazine have been friends to us way back since we began our horological journey.
SalonQP evokes the feeling of a unique club within which one feels an established member but always with a fresh and unique insight. At Page and Cooper we felt a desire to contribute, adding our own unique experience to this wonderful community.
Our passion is always to bring the watchmaker and the watch fan together, something that SalonQP gives us the opportunity to do. Page and Cooper have a mission to share the unique, the interesting and the innovative watchmakers we represent to a much wider audience, that is why we exhibited at SalonQP.
At our first appearance at SalonQP, we were pleased to be joined by Andrea Maggi of Squale, Bradley Price from Autodromo, Max von Wedel from Fortis, Mikael Sandstrom from Halda and we represented Sinn Spezialuhren.
Sinn sent a fine selection of their technical time pieces for us to exhibit which was a first in the UK. The brand showed all of their unique and innovative technologies such as diapal hydro Tegiment ar and, of course, their TESTAF watches, the first actual certification for pilots watches. Whilst many people sell a ‘pilots’ watch what does that actually mean?
Working with the University of Aachen, Sinn have created a specific certification for pilot’s watches and the watch making industry to adhere to. Maximum legibility with chromatic dials, anti-magnetic, free from fogging, negative pressure resistant to protect against sudden cabin decompression, shock proof to a high G rating and case crystal and seals resistant to all known aviation fuels and liquids.
Autodromo introduced their new blue dial Prototipo. A fantastic lug-less chronograph drivers’ watch evoking the instruments of racing in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s. This gorgeous chronograph has been designed with meticulous attention to detail and features a unique mechanical chronograph with quartz timekeeping module, a very special practical and affordable movement. These are selling fast, so if you do want one don’t delay!
Fortis showed their dynamic new collection including the very limited Blue Horizon edition for the first time in Europe, just 135 of these watches will be available worldwide! With a gorgeous deep sun ray brown dial, black superlumiova markers and sky blue hands these are very special editions highlighting the skills and talents of this very special Grenchen based watchmaker.
Sweden’s Halda showed their new Race Pilot Silver watch with bespoke bracelet. A fine example of crisp Swedish design coupled with fine Swedish engineering.
Our very good friends at Squale gave an exclusive preview of their new 39mm Master GMT. Whilst still only a prototype it and other exclusive watches featured on our stand, provided friends and clients alike with a glimpse of the exciting new pieces that are coming up from Page and Cooper in 2015.
SalonQP is split over just three days with the first evening being a very special VIP night. During Friday afternoon we were thrilled that some of our friends had travelled from as far away as Sweden to be with us, and we also met some new watch enthusiasts and existing clients. Friday also featured a cocktail party but the watches were the star of the show. It was great to introduce the wider watch community to our very special makers.
On Saturday we were pleased to have sold all of our very special limited edition Squale Vintage Masters and our makers were so pleased to have met and engaged with the people who hold their work in such high esteem.
We were thrilled to be a part of this very special event, it allowed us to meet, greet and listen to a wide variety of watch fans and learn so much from them, what a thrill. Watch out for Page and Cooper in 2015 and of course we will be returning to SalonQP again in 2015, as the saying goes 'you ain't seen nothing yet!'
