OW P-101Model OW P-101 By Ollech & Wajs
This watch takes its name is a direct homage to the MC Donnell F-101, the very first service fighter jet capable of exceeding 1,000 mph, setting a world-record in 1956. Its design is functional and refined and military in essence. It is a tribute to the thousands of soldiers and officers who chose an OW watch as a survival tool. Its style is deliberately classic in its balance of proportions, with its large lugs, oversized crown, Super-LumiNova® indexes and hands, and semi-domed Sapphire glass. It is equipped with a robust automatic ETA 2824-2 OW3, adjusted by Ollech & Wajs, and a 300m water resistant case. The P-101 is assembled by hand in the Swiss Jura.

I've had O&W watches (Navichron, M4, M65 and Mirages ll & lll) over the last 40 years and the P-101 reflects many of the classic design cues. Build quality does not disappoint, with the nice engraving and brushed case. 30ATM rating is the same as the renowned Caribbean 1000. The so-called "in-house adjustment" of the modified ETA 2824-2 movement doesn't mean much compared with ETA's own specification as it doesn't result in enhanced timekeeping performance; mine gains about 15 seconds a day which is a bit disappointing, and it's a pity the O&W rotor is hidden from view. Super-Luminova is adequate, but it's only applied to the 12, 3, 6 and 9 positions on the dial and sweep second pointer; none on the bezel or other dial markers. Despite all this the P-101 is a very handsome piece of kit and fair value for money - buy it!
