Stopwatches

Primitive man first became aware of the regular movement of the sun and the stars an incredible 30,000 years ago and since that far off time a never ending sequence of discoveries began.

The first stopwatch (a device to keep track of time) was invented by horologist Samuel Watson (1687-1710). The stopwatch measures the elapsed time from the moment it’s mechanism is activated until it is stopped. Samuel Watson was an associate of Isaac Newton and he also made a clock for Charles II.

Hanhart and Marathon Stopwatches

Since the early 1900's, brands Marathon and Hanhart have been perfecting the art of the mechanical stopwatch, their movements capable of timing down to a hundredth of a second.

Professionals in sport, aviation, television, and film continue to use their stopwatches admirably, as they have for over a century.

The mechanical stopwatches, which are still crafted using traditional methods, are testament to their undying functionality and steadfast reliability.

As a true symbol of mankind’s progress in the pursuit of measuring time, our online stopwatches are among the most valued timepieces in the enthusiast's collection.
